As the first quarter of 2021 has drawn to a close, we at Sensor Tower have taken a deep dive into the performance of the top navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Brazil. Our analysis reveals interesting trends in downloads and weekly active users for these essential travel companions.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a strong presence in the first quarter, with downloads starting at 196K in the last week of December and seeing a slight dip to 104K by the end of March. Weekly active users began at 2.46M but experienced a gradual decline, ending the quarter at around 1.68M.

Google Earth, another major player, saw its downloads fluctuate, peaking at 41K in late March after a low of 26K in mid-January. The weekly active users showed resilience, with an increase from 227K at the beginning of the period to 269K in late March, before a slight dip to 264K.

GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation showed a marked decline in downloads from 35K at the year's end to 8K by March's end. However, its revenue trended positively, starting at $214 and gently dropping to $76 by the quarter's end. Weekly active users mirrored the downloads trend, with a decrease from 84K to around 38K over the same period.

Navigation for Google Maps Go experienced a steady download count, beginning at 8.6K and ending the quarter at 4.9K. The app's weekly active users saw a gradual decrease from 22K to 16K from the end of December to the end of March.

Lastly, GPS Maps, Navigation & Traffic started the quarter with 4.4K downloads and ended with 5.1K, showcasing a relatively stable interest among users. The app's weekly active users also saw growth, starting at 8.5K and rising to 9.8K by the end of March, despite a brief period of no recorded revenue in February.
